What’s the hold up?

I haven’t been blogging lately, but this isn’t because I’ve been having a lot of schoolwork or anything.  I have TWO blogs I take care of, so the other one keeps me busy.  The thing is, the other one has a lot of x-rated stuff on it, so I won’t share it with the group until everyone is 18 +.

Ok, what do I have lined up for this week?  Last week was all about doing school projects.  This week is all STUDY STUDY STUDY.  The week after is exams so I have to knock out as much reading as I can this week!

Important reminders for everyone:

  • Tomorrow, January 31st, is the last day to use your Legends coins on MapleStory!
  • Use your Elite Elf Blessings by tomorrow, January 31st!
  • The 24/7 3x event lasts until Friday, February 3rd!  Nexon has never run an event like this!  GO TRAIN.
  • Evolving Ring III event will end on February 6th, so there are 8 DAYS LEFT to get to level  10.
  • Demon Slayers, Cannoneers, Mercedes, and Dual Blades will go limited in March.
  • POMERANIAN SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE MARCH 3RD.  One month to go.  How far are you?

School Blues

Lately, I’ve been busy with school.  It’s 3 weeks into the new semester now and I’m struggling to catch up with everything!  This coming week is project week and the week after are the first exams.  I’m totally behind on all my reading!

This semester has been hectic so far.  I’m having a hard time learning the new concepts and it feels like they’re expecting us to know these things right off the bat.

For example, the Cadet II Trainer.

I just stuck wires in the holes.

What the hell is this even?  My teacher gave us each one and told us to know how to use it by the next class.  There was nothing about this clunky machine thingy in the textbooks and the lab 1 instructions that he gave us were hardly understandable!

Power the logic probe (wire +5V to the Vcc input for the probe), and plug a long wire into any of the input connection points for the probe.  The other end of this wire is what is user to actually “probe,” looking for logic 0 (green), logic 1 (red), and pulse (a 0 to 1 or 1 to 0 signal transition).  Verify the probe’s operation by using the probe wire to check for “live” points on the trainer – locate both logic 0 (green) and logic 1 (red) points.  The “mem” feature of the probe is used to detect a pulse signal of too short a duration for the probe’s lights to react otherwise.  Apply the probe to the trainer’s TTL “clock” signal to determine the difference between the “mem” and “pulse” settings.

Am I supposed to understand this?  It took me hours to figure out how to use this thing.  My other classes are just as bad.

School notes from each class

I know this won’t be another Stats nightmare type of thing, I just need to try to figure it all out in the next couple of weeks.  Once I understand everything, I’m sure this semester won’t be as hectic.  The only comfort is knowing that my classmates are just as lost and confused as I am!  I’m meeting a lot of new people and it’s kind of stressful too since I’m not used to socializing with so many people.  I think it’ll be useful though, since we’ll be able to help each other out in our classes.

The weekend went by so fast and I have another traumatizing week ahead of me!

Copic Color Confusion

Last week, I blogged about these wonderful things called Copic markers.  I had a section about misleading online color charts.  Well, I received the first half of my Copics and I was surprised to see how much different the colors actually were!

Expected Colors

Actual Colors

It might be hard to compare these two while they’re not side-by-side.  So you can get a better idea of how different they are, here are a couple of colors compared next to each other:

The black tabbed lines are expected colors with the actual color on top.

If you want a good idea of what your colors will look like but don’t have access to the markers to see the color caps, you have a couple of options.

  1. Order a handmade color chart from Copic for $15.  This is the best way, but pricey.
  2. Visit these two pages for a fairly accurate idea:  Link 1 Link 2
  3. Put your laptop on a desk, push the monitor back until it is almost flat but not broken, move away from your laptop about an arm’s reach, then squint hard.
Tilt it back this far!

Stand back and VOILA, R25 looks like it's supposed to! No more bubblegum pink!

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think this means I wasted my money.  I was wondering why they didn’t have a good darker palette, which is why I chose many of the darker shades.  However, this information would have been useful to know beforehand because now my collection is missing the lighter colors for highlighting!

What this all means is, when you’re purchasing your markers you should expect:

  • Colors are a couple of shades darker than what you see.
  • Color differences between blending families may actually be much more drastic.

fun.

One of the best feelings in the world is finding a new band that you love.  My current band obsession: fun.

Their name “fun.” fits them just right!  There’s a weird upbeat-ness to their songs that you can’t help but have fun as you’re singing along!

I only heard about them recently, so I was surprised to see that their album was released as far back as 2010!  I’m abusing their album right now and I’m already eager for their next album 8D

Check out their album samples too!

Ail Spaghetti

Does it look the same?

Last week, Ail posted a recipe up for his famous spaghetti bolognaise.  I suck at cooking, but I got my sister Rafe to try it out!

I’m not sure if Rafe followed Ail’s recipe exactly, but this was a very healthy spaghetti!  I don’t think I even saw any tomato sauce.  I have to admit this was the first time I’ve had spaghetti with squash in it.  The squash tasted like zucchini.

I’m not sure if this was spaghetti or not.  Rafe calls it “healthy spaghetti.”  I didn’t know Ail was so into healthy things!

The spaghetti was great, but now that I think about it, it doesn’t quite look like Ail’s picture of his spaghetti.  Am I the only one noticing this?

Thanks Rafe and Ail!  I’m full!
